“My Mother will be 100 years young on July 28. She stays in touch with her family daily with MailBug. It’s been great!”
“Last November, my brother and I bought a MailBug for my grandfather and his wife. They live in rural Nebraska, and are on a fairly fixed budget. Unfortunately most of their children and grandchildren are spread across the country. Long distance phone service was expensive and was usually a once a week occurrence. My brother and I began looking for some type of Internet access for my grandparents that would be both easy to learn as well as inexpensive. The MailBug was our solution. I flew out to Nebraska over Thanksgiving to help them hook it up, and gave them a tutorial. I was concerned that the moment I left, they would not be able to operate the MailBug. However the system is so easy and user friendly, that they immediately began emailing friends and family. My grandfather had Parkinson’s and had great difficulty using his hands, so his wife typed most of the messages. However, he enjoyed reading emails he received and dictating new ones. Over the last few months I became much closer with my grandfather, conversing via email on an almost daily basis. My parents who were doing volunteer work in Nicaragua were also able to stay in touch. My grandparents so enjoy the MailBug, and now have a large email list. In fact a few weeks ago, when my grandfather had to go into the hospital, I called him and told him I had mailed him a letter, and he replied ‘A snail mail!’ Techno-hip at 90 years! Sadly my grandfather passed away 2 weeks ago. At the funeral, all of the relatives there were constantly telling my brother and me what a blessing the MailBug had been. Without it, my grandfather may have spent his last few weeks with only occasional communication with the ones he loved. I have saved every email that the two of them sent. My grandfather was only able to actually type one of those himself. It is only four sentences long, but I will cherish it for the rest of my life. Thank you for letting me share the last months of my grandfather’s life with him.”
“When I began travelling to India years ago, my 70+ yr old mother was frantic. With my older brother and sister gone, I am her only family. I tried to talk to her about a computer so we could stay in contact as I traveled, but of course she is easily confused by any new technology and refuses to believe that there is not some way for the outside (frightening) world to come into her home (and for strangers to steal her credit information) through the dangerous apparatus! I was really considering canceling my Pilgrimage plans, and then found Landel MailBug online, as I searched for solutions. As mom has typing experience, this was the perfect solution! That was back in 2006, and though in these interim years I have managed to get her onto a laptop so she can have groceries delivered to her door, and do her banking without leaving home, all of our daily communication is still done by MailBug. She is almost 84 now, and won’t give up her MailBug. Having worn the letters off the keypad of her original, we recently got her a newer model. Thanks Landel, for making email possible for those either without, or confused/frightened by the complexities of a computer, and for keeping us in daily contact, no matter where I may be!”
“I live in Northern California, and have sisters in NJ and VA…and a developmentally disabled brother (Cerebral Palsy) and parents in Florida. My parents have been able all these many years to help my brother, Dan (58), with things that his support “team” sometimes fall short of being able to do. My Father died last month, and Mother can’t drive much anymore, so Dan’s needs are falling faster and faster into the hands of us, his sisters, and we are so far away! FYI, Dan can’t drive, can’t walk very well, can’t count change or money etc., can take care of himself very modestly, not great at cleaning…but is a delight and tries very hard to make do with what he has, mentally and physically. He definitely can’t operate a computer! Last month we sisters purchased a Landel MailBug, and I flew to Florida and gave it to him. He smiled and giggled…and he is ACTUALLY able to use it. He send us poorly spelled little email almost every day! I am brought to tears to tell you how much this means to our family!! Thank you Landel!!”
“Your MailBug is a great success with my mother, who turned 77 on Christmas day and has never used a computer, and also with a sister who has been anti-computer, anti-Internet. I bought my mother a MailBug for Christmas because it dawned on me that, like so many people, I always called her instead of writing. Since she got her MailBug I’ve corresponded with her more than in the previous 30 years. I ordered her MailBug from amazon.com, had it shipped to her in Wichita, Kansas, where I would be for the holidays, and set it up for her when it arrived in Wichita on Dec. 23. She was emailing immediately, and has since learned how to send to multiple addresses and all the rest. My sister was in Wichita from Lawrence, Kansas, and fell in love with the MailBug. My mother gave her $100 to go toward a new CD player, but my sister decided to get a MailBug instead. She was able to set it up herself, although as I noted she’s never used a computer, and is emailing like a pro. It’s been a wonderful thing for all of us to be linked together through email. I have another sister at USC who’s on the net, so we’ve been tied together that way for years, but having all of us tied together is much better. My wife and I are probably going to buy a MailBug for her mother and step-dad. They say they don’t want one, but believe they too will take to it when they see how they can communicate with their children, grandchildren and friends around the country. Thanks for the MailBug. It is easy to set up and easy to use. I think it has a great future.”
“What a nice way to keep in touch! Thank you very much. Out here in my part of South Dakota no one that I have talked to has ever heard of MailBug, so I have made copies of my brochure and given it to several friends who are interested, as I am, in keeping in touch with family and close friends without the hassle of computer worries. One copy went to a senior citizen lady living and running a Montana ranch by herself, and who has a daughter living out of Rapid City who is very concerned for her plucky mom. My own Texas daughters are quite pleased that they have me set up with a convenient way to keep me in their ‘loop.’ I’m learning, but I do foul up more than occasionally. My skills run more to planting geraniums in the springtime. Thanks again for your ‘reaching out’ policy. I’ve written down all your instructions and will keep them handy. Might even get around to reading your manual one of these evenings when it looks like it’s going to snow.”
“The MailBug has been a wonderful tool for me and my family. I was never much for writing letters but now my sisters and I keep in touch about twice a week, even my two BROTHERS are getting better. (They have computers). We were all on line when my sister who has had two quadruple bypass surgeries. She ended up at the Mayo Clinic for Stent placement and the MailBug was our main source of communication. Her daughter would call me and I in turn would update my sisters, brothers, my daughters all with composing the one message. IT WAS WONDERFUL, and it gave her time to recuperate without being bothered my everyone telephoning her.”
“In my circle I was the first to have MailBug. Then others have bought them to enjoy the way I do. I love emailing my granddaughter in London! MailBug has added a new dimension to our lives.”
“Just to let you know how much I’m enjoying being on line with all of our children who all live so far away from us. This Mail Bug was a gift to me from our son and wife and it’s one BUG I don’t mind bugging. A happy Grandma who thanks all of you for making all this possible.”
“I’m very pleased with your service and think it is wonderful to keep in touch with my love one’s thank you for helping people like me who can’t afford a computer. I have told a lot of people about your service.”
“This little machine is the greatest. It is simple enough to use and understand for people like me who have not been involved in learning to use a big computer. It is so much fun to use and I’m able to keep in contact with the family and friends. We were gone down south for the last three months and the first thing I thought about taking was my MailBug. I had so many people come up and ask me about it. I told all of them that it is the ‘Greatest’. I just can’t tell you how it has become part of my life. I check it several times a day to see if I have any messages and I’m always ready to send a message back if it’s necessary. Thanks Landel for inventing this little machine. I love it.”
“I love it; I brag about it all the time, and I communicate more faithfully than I ever did before…all across the nation and to Mexico City and Rostock, Germany. I’m very glad that someone designed such a wonderful little helper!”
“My son and wife gave me my MailBug for my 82nd birthday last August and I have not had anything I have enjoyed any more. It is so much fun to hear from friends and family. Always exciting when I see the little red light flashing. I hope when it wears out they will get me another one. I can’t think of doing without one.”
“I love this machine and do connect with many of my relatives and fiends across the country and even at 81yrs. My best regards to you and this company.”
“I did not know how invaluable this MailBug would be! I have made contact with friends that I have not seen for years and we keep up a regular correspondence. Thank you for this capability. I did not want to go to the expense of upgrading my computer and this is just what I needed!”
“HI to MailBug… Truly enjoy my MailBug and at 85 years of age can keep in constant contact with friends and relatives. To the extent that they are contemplating stopping Saturday deliveries at the postal service. Did not know my EMail had such a GROSS EFFECT. Thank you.”
“Again Many thanks for my MailBug. I am a 76 year old grandmother and I keep in touch will all my children and eight grandchildren. Couldn’t do without my bug. Keep up your great work. Again thanks.”
“Thanks for the info. I just love my MailBug, I am a little old lady that loves to keep in touch with the grandchildren, family and friends. I have also enjoyed doing business with Landel. Keep up the good work.”
“Just a thank you for keeping on with the Landel MailBug. Dad had a Mailstation for years and then the old machine gave up the ghost and he was not sure where to turn next since the Mailstation was what he could deal with. Now, he uses the MailBug and loves seeing the red blinking light indicating he has mail.”
“I bought the MailBug and set it up with Landel to work from South Africa. We tested it even from AbuDhabi. These days the IDD call rates are more than manageable especially given the short time the bug is online. My 90 year old grandmother sent her first email from Cape Town the other day. She loves it. Thank you for keeping the technology going.”
“After having a mail station for 9 1/2 yrs, it went out and we got my mother a mail bug. She is 90 now and has dementia. This has been a life saver for me as I live in another state from her. She was able to learn to use this machine even with Dementia at 90. Thanks”
“My mother-in-law has had a MailBug for years, provided by my brother-in-law. She’s 87 now, lives alone, and it’s been perfect for her to keep in touch with her kids and grandkids via e-mail. It’s so easy for her to use, and she doesn’t have to worry about dealing with a computer and all the updates and crashes and other technical things that would be difficult for her to know how to take care of.”
“2 years ago, I purchased the MailBug system for my dad (70ish) He has been hard of hearing since I was a child from working in a factor and having a familial trait for hearing loss. He began have problems with hearing my voice over the phone. He was also having problems hearing other on the phone. Now my sister & I can speak with him daily by email. We have the piece of mind knowing he understands us clearly! I love my father and the MailBug has made his life easier. He use the MailBug to keep in touch with family and even old high school buddies! Much easier to learn than the Internet and less expensive that the TTD service!”
“Mom, whom is approaching 80, has been using the product almost from the beginning. She refused to have a desktop/laptop installed because it simply wouldn’t fit into her ole farm house decor and would simply be in her way. In addition, she thought too complicated. Voila! MailBug to the rescue! Perfect size, perfect look, perfect function. She was up and running same day she received. It’s a breeze and now we can easily share little love you and pick me up notes. Lost dad 25+ years ago, so staying in touch is #1. Thanks MailBug!”
“I have a friend who is deaf! I am so glad to be able to communicate in this way with HER!!”
“My Mother has a MailBug at 87! Keeps her mind and fingers going and keeps her in touch with nine of her eleven children and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. It’s easy for Mother to use at 87!”
“By the numbers: my parents’ combined years on this planet…189. The miles from my door to theirs…3000. The #1 favorite thing in my mom’s day…chocolate…but a flashing light alerting her to a MailBug message…a stunningly close #2.”
“My mother is ninety-five-years-old, and, in spite of being fitted with a cochlear implant, finds it nearly impossible to communicate by telephone. Thanks to the MailBug, we are able to keep in touch on a regular basis. MailBug has given us a much needed sense of connection and security.”
