Email Replacement for WebTV

Looking for a simple email replacement for MSN TV? You found it!

MSNTV (also known as WebTV) is discontinuing service. The TV set top box you’ve been using for years doesn’t work anymore. They suggest you get a computer and use their dial-up service.

But is that what you really want? After all, didn’t you get this service because you wanted a solution that was simpler than a computer in the first place? That’s what we thought, too.

Using a computer in place of the set top box will be expensive and complicated.

You can install a wi-fi network in your house and buy broadband Internet service. That will be really expensive on a fixed budget, especially when you expected to continue  using your existing low cost WebTV service. Or you can save the cost and hassle of the wi-fi network and just use MSN dialup, but even that will cost you $18.95/month. Ouch. Not exactly what you had planned.

No matter which route you go, you’ll need to get a computer to replace the set top box. That means you’ll have to get used to all the hassles of a computer, things like this, which they say you will need: Windows 7 or Windows XP with Service Pack Number 3; Intel Pentium 500-megahertz (MHz) or faster processor (800MHz recommended); 128 (megabytes) MB or more of RAM (256 MB recommended); up to 320 MB of hard disk space needed to install, after install, up to 180 MB may be needed; CD-ROM; 256-color VGA or higher resolution graphics card, 800 x 600 screen resolution recommended; 16-bit sound card and speakers; 28.8 kilobits per second (Kbps) or faster modem; or a wi-fi network.

Is this any way to keep things simple? We don’t think so.

If you don’t want a computer or MSN dialup, there are other options. We’re sure you’ve heard of them. Tablets are one.  “Senior computers” are the other. Both are just computers in another form. Don’t let them fool you. Neither are as simple as they pretend to be. Neither are inexpensive. Tablets can cost anywhere from $400 to $800, they take a lot of getting used to, and they require either a wi-fi network or an expensive cellular data plan to work.  “Senior computers” cost $700 or more, and they require a w-ifi network to operate. Did you know that from watching the videos they use to advertise? They must assume you already knew because they say almost nothing about it.  “Senior computers” are made to look ready to use right out of the box, but with this little caveat: “just hook up to your hi speed Internet.” Did you catch that? It goes by pretty fast in the video, but it makes all the difference when considering how easy it is to set up and how expensive it is to use each month.

If you wanted to install a wi-fi network, if you wanted to maintain a wi-fi network, if you wanted to use a computer that costs an arm and a leg, if you wanted to deal with software and updates and firewalls and all that — then you wouldn’t have been using the TV set top box service you were using.

You wanted to keep things simple, and they still can be.

If all you really want is low cost easy access to email in order to keep in touch with family and friends, Landel MailBug is the solution you are looking for — and we would like to extend our warmest welcome to you.

With MailBug, you won’t need a computer, you won’t need a wifi network, you won’t need an expensive Internet connection, you won’t need to worry about Windows, antivirus software, crashes, hassles, or trouble.  All you’ll need to do is know how to type and how to read. If you can do that, then you can use MailBug for email and you’ll have no other hassles or worries.

MailBug email service is just $15.95 a month with no contracts or hassles. That’s about HALF of what MSNTV wants you to pay for their dialup access to connect the computer you don’t even want. And it’s an even bigger discount over the high cost of installing a wi-fi network for a tablet or a “senior computer.” MailBug makes it easy to use email to keep in touch, and it’s friendly to your fixed budget, too.

Get a special WebTV/MSNTV discount!

The MailBug email device costs only $139.95 — but in order to extend our welcome to folks switching over from MSN TV and Web TV, we have introduced a $25 WebTV discount so you can get MailBug for only $114.95.

That’s a lot more affordable than a $700 “senior computer,” so come on over from MSN TV to MailBug. Tell us you are making the switch or use the promo code “webtv” (or “msntv”) at our online store, and save $25.
