Assistive Technology
MailBug helps people with hearing disabilities become more self-reliant.
MailBug serves as an effective assistive technology device. Special-needs customers will find our simple email kiosk an easy-to-use and convenient alternative to the complexities of a computer or smartphone. It is far easier to learn than a computer and the internet and less expensive than TDD service.
Hearing impaired customers can order a MailBug and have it set up prior to shipment, or alternatively the MailBug can be set up by the customer upon receipt with the help of a friend who can call the Landel Customer Support phone number, and friendly customer service staff will help to quickly configure the unit by selecting and entering an email address, password, and the phone number used to connect to the Landel servers. Then the customer needs only to power up the unit by plugging the included AC adapter, and a standard phone line into the jack on the unit. Then they are ready to begin composing, sending, and receiving email. Using email without a computer has never been easier.
Hearing impaired customers use MailBug to easily communicate with family, friends, and medical personnel as an effective alternative to using a telephone. The full-sized keyboard makes it easy to type messages, and a blinking red light signals when new mail is received.
